DON'T DOUBT THE DROUGHT

As you know, in January, Governor Brown, declared a drought state of emergency and directed state officials to take all necessary actions in preparation for a water shortage.  As of June 1st, the Governor mandated a 25 percent emergency water use reduction until February 2016.  With continuous efforts, Californians surpassed June’s conservation rate by 27.3 percent and even better July’s water use was reduced by 31.3 percent! That’s great news! For the last two consecutive months, everyone’s efforts and all campaigning, we, as a state, exceeded the Governor’s 25 percent emergency conservation mandate!

Cordova Lake Properties, LLC, Lakeside Village, is simply reminding all to conserve, conserve, conserve our water supply throughout this HOT season. It is no secret that we are in another drought. If you are a Southern California resident you probably noticed highway signs that read " Serious Drought Help Save Water." It is critical that we all understand how serious this drought is and we as all work together to not let any of our stored water go to waste.

BE WISE AND WINTERIZE

Temperatures are dropping sending cold chills down our spines reminding us to bring out the
warm coats, scarves, mittens and boots to protect ourselves from the icy weather ahead. And just as we protect ourselves from the cold winter weather it is critical to protect our homes too. The potential damage that can be caused due to not winterizing can not only become inconvenient but frustrating and sometimes costly. To avoid any frustration, Lakeside Village is reminding all to be wise and winterize. Beginning November 1st through April 1st, all irrigation systems must be shut off to avoid any frozen pipes. Just as frozen water causes a bottle to expand in an icy freezer so will the water in your pipes. And as the leaves fall, this indicates that there is no better time than now to prepare for the long winter ahead! Just as the animals prepare prior to the cold, unbearable weather, we should too!

WATER CONSERVATION STARTS AT HOME

With temperatures rising across the Southland for the summer heat so is the water usage in and outside our homes. Although the water supply may appear endless, California is no stranger to droughts. Thus, when living in California any drought can literally be around the corner! According to the Department of Water Resources, 2013 began with the driest record from November through May since 1920. As the population continues to grow and the precipitation is scarce, it is important that we, as a community, work together to conserve the water that we have stored. All California residents, in all communities, should NOT take the water we have for granted. How can we as a community work together in conserving our water supply? Well, it is very easy and it starts at home!
